WWE Immortals is a creative reimagining of the cast from the popular WWE wrestling series, and it provides players with an otherworldly way to experience the excitement of that venue. This game was created by NetherRealm Studios, which is famous for creating one of the most popular brawlers in all of the gaming industry: Mortal Kombat. WWE Immortals is similar in style to Mortal Kombat, but it features super-powered versions of the characters from WWE that the fans have come to love and hate alike.

This title takes the classic theme of WWE and gives it an fantastical makeover. The story focuses on a magical lamp called the Dark Lantern that is brandished by Bray Wyatt, and the lamp has been stolen and its powers unleashed. The Authority, who stole the lamp and released its power, can not control the vast energy from the lamp, and they accidentally open doorways to other universes, which transforms the roster of WWE characters into monsters, super heroes, demons, and other creatures.

While that plot might seem overly simplified yet strangely convoluted, it is exactly the sort of theme that one might expect from both the creators of Mortal Kombat and the WWE organization.

The gameplay is quite similar to other titles from the same producer. Players will select three wrestlers from their team to take into battle, and they will fight another set of three wrestlers until there is only one victor. Characters are represented by playing cards, and those cards can be used in either campaign battles or online multiplayer.

As players advance, they will earn more cards, and the cards can also be purchased through in-game buying options. Players earn credits for winning and for completing daily challenges, and this not only helps unlock more cards, but it increases the strength of the existing wrestlers. The fights do eventually start to get harder, and when that happens, the income from earning credits will start to wane. At a certain point, your cards will have to recharge their stamina before they can be used again, but there is an option to pay to recharge those bars instantly.

Like most brawlers, the battles consist primarily of button-mashing, which translates to screen-taping with a mobile platform like the Android. Specific moves for the fighters are all different, but they have the same basic format. Tapping attacks are lighter and faster, and swiping across the screen releases slower and more powerful attacks. Combos can be strung together to unleash devastating damage, and they even have a form of the popular 'fatality' from the Mortal Kombat series.

Blocking is also possible by employing two fingers at once, which is possible thanks to the multitouch screens of modern mobile phones. It does take some time for players to get the hang of the controls, but once they are mastered, the game becomes exceptionally fun.

WWE Immortals is a game that combines the fantasy of professional wrestling with the fantasy associated with magic, demons, heroes, and other mythical beings. The game was produced by NetherRealm Studios, which earned their fame for developing Mortal Kombat. WWE Immortals provides the same sort of intense fighting and gameplay associated with Mortal Kombat, but it centers on real-world members of the WWE. There aren't many other games that take this level of creative license, but it pays off well. The battles are straightforward and fun, and they include some strategy for those that want to be the champion of the game.
